Although the path to becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant isn’t as long as a PT’s, you’ll still need to undergo rigorous training to earn state-regulated certification. 

Here are the 4 basic steps to becoming a PTA:

1. Enroll at a PTA program at a CAPTE-accredited school
2. Earn your two-year Associate’s degree through coursework and clinical instruction
3. Pass the boards exam (and any other state-specific requirements)
4. Obtain your PTA license and begin applying for jobs!
